Waterproofing, retiling, drainage. Your terrace built to last the Spanish climate.
Calculate Your Price →Terraces on the Costa Blanca take more punishment than any other part of your home. Intense sun, UV exposure, thermal cycling from 40°C days to cool nights, and occasional torrential rain. Most terrace problems we see come down to two things: missing or failed waterproofing, and incorrect drainage. Water pools on the surface, finds its way through cracks in the grout, gets behind the tiles, and eventually seeps into the room below. By the time you see a damp patch on your ceiling, the damage is already significant.
A proper terrace renovation starts with getting the waterproofing right. We strip the old tiles, assess the structural slab underneath, repair any cracks, and apply a full waterproofing membrane before any new tiles go on. We ensure correct drainage slopes — a minimum fall of 1.5% toward the edge or drain point — so water runs off rather than pooling. Tile joints get proper flexible grout rated for exterior use, and the critical junction where the terrace meets the house wall gets sealed with a proper upstand detail.
Not all tiles work outdoors. We use porcelain rated for exterior use — anti-slip (R11 minimum), frost-proof, and UV-stable so colours don’t fade in the Spanish sun. Adhesive is flexible and rated for thermal movement. These details matter because a terrace surface can swing 50°C between a summer afternoon and a winter night. Rigid materials crack. Flexible systems absorb the movement and keep everything sealed.
