The Problem
Why terraces fail

Terraces on the Costa Blanca take more punishment than any other part of your home. Intense sun, UV exposure, thermal cycling from 40°C days to cool nights, and occasional torrential rain. Most terrace problems we see come down to two things: missing or failed waterproofing, and incorrect drainage. Water pools on the surface, finds its way through cracks in the grout, gets behind the tiles, and eventually seeps into the room below. By the time you see a damp patch on your ceiling, the damage is already significant.

Done Properly
How we fix it

A proper terrace renovation starts with getting the waterproofing right. We strip the old tiles, assess the structural slab underneath, repair any cracks, and apply a full waterproofing membrane before any new tiles go on. We ensure correct drainage slopes — a minimum fall of 1.5% toward the edge or drain point — so water runs off rather than pooling. Tile joints get proper flexible grout rated for exterior use, and the critical junction where the terrace meets the house wall gets sealed with a proper upstand detail.

Built For The Climate
The right materials

Not all tiles work outdoors. We use porcelain rated for exterior use — anti-slip (R11 minimum), frost-proof, and UV-stable so colours don’t fade in the Spanish sun. Adhesive is flexible and rated for thermal movement. These details matter because a terrace surface can swing 50°C between a summer afternoon and a winter night. Rigid materials crack. Flexible systems absorb the movement and keep everything sealed.

Questions & Answers
Terrace Renovation FAQ

How much does a terrace renovation cost in Spain?

A terrace renovation starts from around €2,000, or roughly €25/m², depending on the area and how much drainage and waterproofing work is needed. We confirm a fixed price after a site visit.

Why does my terrace leak or pool water after rain?

Almost always because of poor falls (slopes) or missing waterproofing. Water sits instead of draining and eventually finds its way inside. We correct the falls and waterproof properly.

Do you fix drainage and waterproofing?

Yes — re-grading the falls, installing or repairing drainage, and laying a proper waterproofing membrane before re-tiling.

Can you re-tile and re-level an old terrace?

Yes. Where tree roots or a failed screed have lifted the tiles, we deal with the base first, then re-level and re-tile the whole area.

How long does a terrace renovation take?

It depends on the area and the extent of drainage work. We give you a realistic timeline before starting.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover the Costa Blanca — including Javea, Moraira, Calpe, Altea, Benidorm, La Nucia, Orihuela Costa, Torrevieja and the surrounding towns.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. We give a workmanship guarantee — up to 5 years on structural and waterproofing work, with shorter periods on other work — covering defects in how we carried out the job. Installed equipment carries the manufacturer’s warranty. Full terms are on our workmanship guarantee page.
